At the early of the 20th Century, Eusebi Güell i Bacigalupi founded, at Clot del Moro, the first Porland concrete plant in Catalonia, commonly referred as Asland. In order to make its furnaces work, the plant used the coal from de coal mines located in Catllràs ( one of mountain range of Lillet Valley); the distance from La Pobla de Lillet and the coal mines forced Eusebi Güell to entrust the draft of Xalet del Catllaràs ( Catllaràs Mine Engineers and workers' house) to the architect Antoni Gaudí.
While visitng Lillet Valley, Gaudí lived at Artigas' place. Mr. Artigas was the owner of one of the most prosperous factories at that time. As a symbol of gratitude, Gaudí designed a garden in front of Artigas' home and factory. That is the beginning of Jardins Artigas, a park where nature and architecture merge in perfect harmony.
We propose to come and enjoy a unique visit to the wet garden designed by the architect Antoni Gaudí.
